Angular Expanses - for solo snare drum

Selected as the compulsory piece for the 2026 Modern Snare Drum Competition, Angular Expanses develops a wide range of colors and timbres on the instrument. Unlike his previous work Opal, Angular Expanses embraces and expands the use of extended snare drum techniques and notation systems. Program notes: "I picture Angular Expanses happening in a huge, dark void. Each idea explodes onto the dark canvas and unfolds into increasingly complex and colorful shapes. However, these geometric objects are unstable and each one collapses back into the void just as quickly as they bloomed."
